Here are the J.StoryCenter guidelines for story length: Fiction/Non-Fiction - Micro fiction: under 100 words.
- Short-short story: 101 to 2500 words.
- Short story: 2501 to 7500 words.
- Novelette: 7501 to 17500 words.
- Novella: 17501 to 39999 words.
- Novel: 40000 words and greater.
Prose/Poetry - Micro verse: under 50 words.
- Short verse: 51-250 words.
- Regular Verse: 251-1000 words.
- Long verse: 1001-5000 words.
- Novel Verse: 5001-39999 words.
- Epic Verse: 40000 words and greater.
This includes all words, even A, the, in, et cetera. Special verse - regional/cultural verse, such as a haiku - is not given a special category, as there are simply too many types of special verse. Please place special verses in the appropriate length category, and, if you wish, you may append the title of the verse with a special heading. For example: If you wrote a haiku called, My Red Shoe, you would list the haiku as Micro Verse (MV). If you wanted to let people know that My Red Shoe was a haiku, you could make the listing title as: My Red Show - Haiku. This allows people making advanced searches to add the keyword "haiku" into the search criteria and pull up all of the haikus.
